Miles 52, Lane 28
The last time Miles started a season 3-1 was in 2012, when the Golden Bears made their only trip to the NCAA Division II playoffs. That year, Miles averaged nearly 36 points per game through its first four contests.

This year, Miles is averaging 39 points a game to start the season. The Golden Bears used a dominating third quarter to break open a close game and subdue Lane 52-28 in both team’s SIAC opener. at Sloan-Alumni Stadium In the win, the Golden Bears (3-1, 1-0 SIAC) scored their most points in a game since a 54-7 win over University of Mobile in 1983.

Fort Valley State 50, Benedict 16
After coming up short on the scoreboard in the first quarter, the Wildcats’ engine went full steam ahead in the second 15 minutes. Fort Valley State scored 29 second-quarter points behind four Slade Jarman scoring strikes while the defense posted seven sacks on the way to a 50-16 victory over Benedict College in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference football opener at the Upstate HBCU Classic.

University of West Alabama 36, Tuskegee 16
Tuskegee held an early second half lead, but three unanswered scores allowed the University of West Alabama to pull away for a 36-16 victory over the Golden Tigers Saturday afternoon in Livingston, Ala.

Albany State 54, Clark Atlanta 19
The Albany State University football team dominated the host Clark Atlanta University to pull away for a 54-19 win on Saturday from Panthers Stadium.

The victory improves the Golden Rams to (2-2, 1-0 SIAC) on the year in its first SIAC conference game of the season. Clark Atlanta slipped to (0-4, 0-2 SIAC) with the loss.

Savannah State 17, Morehouse 10
Savannah State Football picked up their third consecutive win of the 2019 season, beating Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Morehouse College 17-10 at B.T. Harvey Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday in front of 5,000 fans.

Historically, SSU ties the record at 15 wins apiece in the team’s 30th meeting.

Kentucky State 33, Jackson State University 25
The Kentucky State University football team rattled off 33 unanswered points and held off a late charge to post the 33-25 victory over Jackson State in the 33rd Annual Circle City Classic held at the Lucas Oil Stadium Saturday.

It marks the first time in school history Division II Kentucky State has recorded multiple Division I wins.

Alabama A&M University 63, Central State 20
The Alabama A&M Bulldogs handled the Central State Marauders, 63-20, in Saturday night’s Gulf Coast Challenge in Mobile, Alabama.

The non-conference loss drops Central State to 1-3 overall while Alabama A&M improves to 4-2 overall.
